Hot Fudge, Oreos and Cheesecake! Oh My!

Take a second and try to think of three delicious food ingredients that could possibly go together to make a delectable dessert bar? What did you come up with? Was it hot fudge, Oreos, and cheesecake… oh maybe that was just me?

Baking delicious treats has always been one of my favorite pastimes and you can never go wrong with making something that is rich, chocolaty and has an Oreo cookie crust. When I found this recipe I knew I had to make a version to call my own. So, without further ado, let’s dive in so you too can make these delicious cheesecake bars for yourself.

These are the ingredients I used to make the Hot Fudge Oreo Cheesecake Bars, the only thing not pictured is my sugar canister.

Step 1: While your oven is pre-heating crush up the Oreos for the crust. I decided to use a food processor to get equally sized cookie crust worthy crumbs. These poor Oreos have no idea what’s coming next!

Step 2: Mix to combine Oreo crumbs, butter and pinch of salt together and press firmly into a prepared 8 x 8 pan.
Sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, cream cheese.
Step 3: Combine cream cheese, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder in a bowl.
Step 3.5: The combined sugars, cocoa powder, and cream cheese will end up looking like this.
Step 4: Now its time to add the vanilla extract and eggs. Once that is done your chocolaty cream cheese mixture should look like this.
Step 5: Fold in one cup of the hot fudge into the cream cheese mixture. Once the fudge is fully incorporated it is ready to be poured onto the Oreo crust. No, I did not say you should eat a spoonful of the cheesecake batter in its current state, jeez didn’t you listen to your mother’s about avoiding raw batter as a kid. 😉

Depending on how well your oven works it could take 40-70 minutes or longer to finish baking. When its done it should be equally level and slightly jiggly throughout.
Step 6: Pour the remaining hot fudge on top of the slightly cooled cheesecake and top with the chopped Oreos. Be sure to refrigerate for four hours or overnight to make sure the cheesecake bars have completely firmed up.

Once firm you can slice them into bars and serve them. You can put your spoon down now and grab a plate! 🙂

24 crushed Oreos

6 tbsp. melted butter

Pinch of salt

Cream Cheese Filling:

2 (8oz) packages of cream cheese softened to room temperature

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup light brown sugar

1/4 cup Hershey’s Unsweetened cocoa powder

2 eggs

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

pinch of salt

1 (16oz) jar of hot fudge

1 cup chopped Oreos


Step 1: Pre-heat your oven to 325 degrees and while you wait, crush up 24 Oreos for the crust of your cheesecake bars. I used a food processor to make sure I got evenly crushed pieces for the crust.

Step 2: Mix cookie crumbs, 6 tablespoons of butter and a pinch of salt together and then press into a 8 x 8 prepared pan.

Step 3: Combine 2 (8oz) packages of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup golden brown sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder.

Step 4: Add the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and two eggs to the cream cheese mixture. Be sure to mix well before adding the second egg.

Step 5: Fold in 1 cup of hot fudge into the cream cheese mixture. Pour the filling onto the Oreo crust and place in the oven for 40-70 minutes. After the first 40 minutes I would check how done your cheesecake is every ten minutes after that until it is completely cooked and only slightly jiggly.

Note: The original recipe states to bake the cheesecake for 40 minutes, however, when I went to check mine at that time the sides had started to rise slightly, and the middle was completely raw. I put it back in my oven and checked it every ten minutes until the cheesecake was level. Ovens do vary so I would just keep checking it at ten minute intervals until it appears done and is not sunken in and raw in the middle.

Step 6: Once the cheesecake is done baking and has cooled slightly, layer the remaining hot fudge on the top of the cheesecake and add the remaining 1 cup of crushed Oreos. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight before cutting into bars.
